I had planned to create a classic long-exposure photograph of Checkpoint Charlie. Everything was set up, and I was waiting for a quiet, static scene. Then, out of nowhere, cars and a group of young people on scooters began circling the checkpoint. Instead of ruining the photograph, they filled it with movement and energy, turning an ordinary composition into a unique moment I could never have planned.
