At dusk on Pier 7, I waited for the crowds to clear so I could capture the quiet atmosphere I wanted. The line of lights leads toward the bay and the distant silhouette of Alcatraz. The dramatic sky gives the scene a cinematic quality - beautiful, mysterious and slightly unsettling. I deliberately left Alcatraz understated, allowing the viewer's imagination to complete the story.
