In the Grand Canyon, I found these handmade vessels displayed against the landscape. I was told they were made from clay or sand originating in the canyon area. I immediately saw them as the canyon's “children” with the monumental landscape behind them as their source. Placing the pottery in the foreground created a quiet dialogue between human craftsmanship and the immense power of nature.
